Over one million companies make up the free world’s critical infrastructure. These ‘critical million’ companies are under increased threat relative to their peers due to the special roles they play in providing the lifeline of services to their countries. The threat to each of these million companies continues to increase from foreign intelligence services, global organized crime, and a variety of crooks and terrorists from global to homegrown. Widely used threatware such as Ransomware as a Service that is taking down companies around the world, can also take down an entire economy when aimed in a more coordinated fashion at the companies that make up a critical sector such as banking, transportation, energy, healthcare and more. That’s why this collection of companies is called the ‘Critical Million.’
